First of all, what is a testnet? In blockchain technology, a testnet is an instance of a blockchain-powered by the same or a newer version of the underlying software, to be used for testing and experimentation without risk to real funds or the main chain.
How to participate in the IronFish incentivized testnet?
First of all, you have to register on the IronFish Network website. Link. After that, you will be able to see multiple categories in which you can earn points. Let’s look at them one by one.
Mining
In this one, you will indeed be mining blocks of the IronFish blockchain. You’d have to have a powerful machine to do so. I tested for fun using the almost single command install from Node.guru, and then following the steps. I chose a cheap server and Linux environment with 1single vcore. You can see that I was mining at ~500KH/s
I lost hope quickly when I noticed that with this hashrate, it would take me >16.000 hours to mine a single block using the explorer.
Promoting the network & Contributing to the community
Which is what I am doing now. By doing specific tasks to promote the testnet, you can earn some points as a token of your participation. For now, I did a twitter thread, a twitter message and now creating a twitter article.
Submit a pull request
This is more for tech developers. But you can contribute to the code of the Iron.Fish Network.
Good luck and hope to see you on the leaderboard of Iron.Fish.
