[SurferInvestor] Could you please summarise briefly what Pentos Finance is about?
[Kobe] Pentos is the next generation of index management, at Pentos we aim to create a cutting-edge approach to investing in crypto indexes.
[SurferInvestor] Could you please introduce yourself as a founder/team member?
[Kobe] As the co-founder of Pentos Finance, I have been a part of the crypto and DeFi world since 2021, starting out as a retail investor and gradually evolving into a crypto trader. My interest in this space was fueled by the innovative financial opportunities that DeFi presents. With my little background in investing in traditional finance and experience trading crypto assets.
[SurferInvestor] What is your background?
[Kobe] As an engineer in biology, I have a strong background in scientific and technical knowledge. However, my interest in finance led me to explore the world of crypto. Despite being aware of Bitcoin for many years, I only decided to invest in it in 2021. Since then, I became a crypto trader and have been actively looking for the next narrative and I have fully immersed myself in the crypto culture, day and night. I have dedicated a significant amount of time and effort to understanding the industry and staying up to date with the latest developments and waves to ride. This has allowed me to gain a comprehensive understanding of the market and make informed decisions as a crypto trader. I am constantly learning and improving my trading strategies in the dynamic world of crypto.
[SurferInvestor] What made you go from Trader to Builder?
[Kobe] With time, ambition grows. After 3 years spent trading, and trying all kinds of possible dapps, projects, etc. I finally feel ready to build the project of my dreams.
[SurferInvestor] How did you come up with the idea of Pentos finance?
[Kobe] The idea of building an index trading platform came from our co-founder, but as a trader, I saw it as a unique opportunity. With my experience and understanding of the needs of traders, I am confident that I can contribute to creating the best possible user experience. Our co-founder, Evon, has always had a vision of building a platform like this and I am excited to be a part of making that vision a reality. By combining Evon’s innovative ideas with my expertise as a trader, we hope to revolutionize the index trading industry and provide traders with a seamless and efficient platform.
[SurferInvestor] I know that a few projects are existing already in the crypto index segment. What will you do differently?
[Kobe] At Pentos we will implement an AI to help you build your index, so If you ask what makes us different from the other index platforms: Actually, there is no existing solution in the market using AI technology to build an index and fully personalize it, if you want to create an index you can only buy one that represents the average fluctuation of a sector (DeFi, gaming, metaverse, etc..), such as the well known DeFi Pulse Index or the Metaverse Index. At Pentos you will be able to manage your index and add as many as you want tokens into the index, use limit orders, auto rebalancing mode, and more.
(Note of the SurferInvestor: more and more protocols starts to use AI to improve their processes. This seems to be a trend. For example, Teiki Protocol also leverages AI to help founders submit projects.)

[SurferInvestor] What item in the roadmap gets you the most excited?
[Kobe] What excites me the most is our composable index creation mechanism. This allows users to create and customize their own indices, providing unparalleled flexibility and control over their investment strategies. With this feature, users can tailor their portfolios to their specific needs and preferences, making it easier than ever to achieve their investment goals. Additionally, the ability to share and compete with others within the platform creates a dynamic and engaged community that will drive innovation and value for all participants.
[SurferInvestor] You are planning to launch on Arbitrum, Optimism, and Metis. So L2 focussed. Could you comment on that decision?
[Kobe] Why Arbitrum? We are Arbitrum and L2 freaks, me and the-cofounder used Arbitrum since the testnet back in 2021 and we have been part of the Arbitrum community for a while, it is, therefore, natural for us to move towards Arbitrum, once live we will seek to expand our panel of tradable crypto on our platform and give people the opportunity to trade crypto assets on OP and Metis.
[SurferInvestor] How many people are on the team?
[Kobe] We are 5 people on the team, the co-founder, Evon the co-founder and 3 full stack developers. As a team of 5 members, we have 3 highly talented developers who have built well-known protocols such as Miso for SushiSwap, Tokemak, etc. These developers bring a wealth of experience and technical expertise to the table.
[SurferInvestor] In an ideal world, how would Pentos finance look in 5 years?
[Kobe] In the ideal scenario, Pentos will become a leader in index trading platforms, not just in cryptocurrency but beyond. Pentos will be the go-to destination for people to share their strategies.
