Today we have the chance to interview Jsonpreet, CEO & Founder of Pinsta.xyz. Pinsta is a decentralized image and video-sharing platform that allows users to save and organize their discovery information using images, videos, and animated GIFs. Together with him, we will discuss what Pinsta is about, why he decided to build on Lens Protocol, what is his long-term vision for the project, and many more. Let’s dig in!
[SurferInvestor] Could you please summarise briefly what Pinsta is about?
[Jsonpreet] Pinsta is a decentralized image and video-sharing platform that allows users to save and organize their discovery information using images, videos, and animated GIFs. Those pieces of information are saved in the form of “pinboards,” which are collections of pins that are grouped together based on a common theme or topic.
[Jsonpreet] Pinsta is designed to be a more private and secure alternative to traditional social media platforms, as it is decentralized and does not rely on a central authority to host and manage user data.
[Jsonpreet] Because Pinsta is decentralized, users have more control over their content and data, and can choose to share it with only the people they trust. This makes it a great option for users who want to save and share their discovery information without worrying about it being accessed by third parties.
[Jsonpreet] And yes, it’s built with Lens Protocol 🌿
[SurferInvestor] Could you please introduce yourself as a founder? What is your background? What makes you the right team for the project?
[Jsonpreet] I am JsonPreet (Harpreet Singh) from India. I have been building web3 projects for 3 years. My first project was built on Deso Blockchain.
[SurferInvestor] How did you come up with the idea of Pinsta?
[Jsonpreet] I was constantly exploring Web3 Projects, but I saw there are no Web3 Pinterest-related Projects. So I decided to build a Pinterest-like Web3 on top of Lens Protocol.
[SurferInvestor] There are multiple decentralized Social infrastructures (DeSo, Farcaster), why did you pick Lens?
[Jsonpreet] Lens has excellent documentation and Developer conversations/ecosystem. I immediately felt at home interacting with other builders on Lens. Also, spending a lot of time on Twitter, Lens was very hyped up.
[SurferInvestor] What item in the roadmap gets you the most excited?
[Jsonpreet] Hard to tell, but for sure I can’t wait to see users interact with videos, DMs, email notifications, and giveaways & contests.
[SurferInvestor] Why should Pinterest users (mainly women) be interested in having a presence on Pinsta?
[Jsonpreet] On Pinsta users can explore/discover Images, Videos, and Animated Gifs. A Good Collection of Pin Boards. Earn money with Sell their Ideas or Images & Videos.
[SurferInvestor] You launched the products 1-2 weeks ago. Any cool statistic you can share with us?
[Jsonpreet] As you know it’s probably too early to comment on stats straight after the launch. But we have 830 Unique Visitors and 4k+ Total page views in the last 28 days. Stats are approx.
[SurferInvestor] How many people in the team?
[Jsonpreet] One-man Army.
[SurferInvestor] In an ideal world, how would Pinsta look in 5 years?
[Jsonpreet] I have a lot of ideas and things to run Pinsta long term. For example, create many different Contests, Run Giveaways & Promotions. As mentioned before, Pinsta is only a Web3 Pinterest Clone and a good point is that it’s built with Lens Protocol.
[SurferInvestor] For people who wanna jump in, how to get started?
[Jsonpreet] It’s important for your readers to know, that they don’t need a Lens Protocol Handle to use Pinsta. They can explore it without Login. Users can search for ideas and images.
[Jsonpreet] What I recommend for example is to go on Pinsta.xyz and try the search bar to look for what you are interested in. Alternatively, you can click through the tags to see if anything catches your attention!
