Welcome to our today’s new interviewee, Aram, best known in the crypto sphere under the username @AramzCrypto. He is the founder of @MyAlphaDrops, one of the leading Airdrops communities with more than 46k followers. He is also a Web3 specialist and a contributor to @nostrafinance. Together, we will be discussing Aram’s background, the genesis of his community, the evolution of the airdrop hype in recent times, and many more. Let’s start!
[SurferInvestor] Could you please introduce yourself briefly and what is Alpha Drops about?
[Aram – Alpha drops] My name is Aram. I have spent most of my career as a graphic designer working with NGOs and advertising agencies even though I have a bachelor’s degree in Public Sector Management. I was introduced to cryptocurrencies in early 2015 when I was trading FOREX, but I did my first crypto investment in 2017.
[Aram – Alpha drops] Alpha Drops is a community dedicated to supporting and connecting early supporters and early projects in the world of Web3. We provide free content on the latest and most exciting projects and firmly believe that supporting these projects is crucial to driving innovation in the rapidly evolving technology of Web3.
[Aram – Alpha drops] Alpha Drops’ members use Web3 projects on both the mainnet and testnet, offering valuable feedback and suggestions to improve. We view airdrops and incentives not as free money, but as a reward for those who are truly committed to advancing Web3.
[SurferInvestor] How did you come up with the idea of creating Alpha Drops?
[Aram – Alpha drops] It all started with my personal airdrop tracker spreadsheet. I was collecting data for some airdrops in a spreadsheet until I found it useful to make it public and share it with anyone interested, so I migrated the data to Notion. Once I saw that people are interested in this small database, I decided to improve it over time. After two months, my Twitter account grew by around 20x, so I decided to improve my content and set a name for the community, which is called Alpha Drops now (see below).
[SurferInvestor] What is the best airdrop you got so far?
[Aram – Alpha drops] I got my first airdrop in early 2018 (Coinex Token $CET), and it was an amazing experience. At the time, I was new to the cryptocurrency market, and the idea of receiving free tokens simply for using an app was mind-blowing to me.
[Aram – Alpha drops] Since then, I’ve received several airdrops, but my favorite has been Thena. Not only was the number of tokens I received impressive, but I also got vested tokens which have become an income source.
Editorial note: In between the publication and the interview, Aram told us that he also recieved the ARB airdrop which is now his best airdrop so far.
[SurferInvestor] What was the best thing that makes you the proudest that happened in the community?
[Aram – Alpha drops] As someone who produces content and manages a community, I spend a lot of time, effort, and energy on my work. Despite this, the thing that makes me most proud is the support of the community. Knowing that my work is appreciated and valued by others is incredibly motivating and helps me stay committed to my goals.
[SurferInvestor] What was the hardest moment for you running Alpha Drops?
[Aram – Alpha drops] The most challenging aspect of running Alpha Drops for me is the risk of causing harm to the community and its investments. Despite my efforts to filter out subpar projects and scams from the content I provide, certain situations are beyond my control, such as when a Discord server is hacked. While I cannot be held responsible for the actions of others, it is still difficult for me to face these types of situations and the negative impact they have on the community.
[SurferInvestor] Is there a team supporting you? Are you recruiting?
[Aram – Alpha drops] Although I have created this community independently, I am grateful for the support of its members. Lately, a handful of exceptional contributors have joined our team to help share alpha projects and NFTs. I’m always open to expanding the Alpha Drops team, and I welcome anyone who is interested in becoming a contributor to join us and grow with our community.
[SurferInvestor] Do you think that airdrops are positive for the crypto world?
[Aram – Alpha drops] Airdrops are a common marketing strategy used by blockchain projects to increase their visibility, attract new users, and incentivize existing ones.
[Aram – Alpha drops] Some may argue that airdrops have negative impacts on the projects as many of the recipients may sell immediately after receiving their airdrop and causing a drop in the token value. I can’t disagree, but I believe a well-managed airdrop can rather have a very positive impact on the project. We have to keep airdrops like Optimism in mind.
[SurferInvestor] Could you tell us a bit more about your PFP NFT?
[Aram – Alpha drops] My profile picture is an NFT that I own from the Bored Town collection on Optimism. I just like it, so I haven’t changed it since I minted the NFT.
[SurferInvestor] In which region in the world are you based?
[Aram – Alpha drops] Middle-east.
[SurferInvestor] In an ideal world, what do you think the Alpha Drops community will look like in 5 years?
[Aram – Alpha drops] While I haven’t considered the specific details of what the Alpha Drops community will look like in five years, I’m continually striving to enhance the quality of the services and content we offer.
[SurferInvestor] For people interested, how to get started?
[Aram – Alpha drops] Getting started in the world of blockchain and cryptocurrency can seem difficult, but learning the basics is essential. I suggest beginning with a broad overview of topics such as blockchain technology, how smart contracts function, and the difference between layer 1 and layer 2 networks, as well as decentralized applications. It’s also important to understand how to use wallets and navigate different networks.
[Aram – Alpha drops] Once these foundational skills are mastered, individuals can join our community and start following our airdrop strategies. Our community offers valuable resources, insights, and support to help users make informed decisions and succeed in the space.
[SurferInvestor] Can you tell me a bit more about the Alpha Pass, is it an NFT?
[Aram – Alpha drops] We recently introduced a membership NFT named Alpha Pass. This NFT is going to be minted on Ethereum and comes with some exclusive perks and benefits.
