Today is 16.09.2020 and I am just out of my two days hair transplantation session at the Cosmedica Turkey Hair Transplant Clinic. My experience with the Cosmedica Clinic was so good – that I want to help to spread the word.

I know that this blog is more about investing, but I felt that the customer review of Dr. Acar’s clinic in Turkey would fit very well in the lifestyle section. Also, never forget that investing in yourself always yields the best return. If your hair loss bothers you, tackle it.

The decision process

First of all some information about me. I am 32 years old and I live in Germany. I was referred to  I went for the following package: DHI Mikro Saphir (5500) Paket. I friend of mine recommended me Cosmedica Clinic and then had a look at Cosmedica’s Instagram Page as well as read the reviews about the Dr. Acar Reviews. I also compared Dr. Acar Vs Dr. Cinik and ended up picking Dr. Acar’s Clinic.

The reservation process 4.5/5

After making my due diligence, I then got in touch via Whatsapp using the number that I found on the Cosmedica Instagram profile. At first, I was connected with the English-speaking service of Cosmedica, I sent them some pictures of my hair situation and wishes in terms of transplantation. One week later a call was organized to walk me through the process. It was in German because I told the service that I was based in Berlin. But I was impressed to see that Dr. Acar’s clinic serves customers in almost all languages. French, Russian, German, English, Arabic, etc….

A couple of days later, I took the decision to go for it and then communicated my choice to the Cosmedica representative in Germany. She told me that I had to book my plane first before the date would be reserved for me. Since we are in a post COVID world, I was strongly recommended to book via Turkish Airlines directly because other comparators are not sure to still exists in the next couple of months and it would be impossible to have support in case the ticket would have to be changed.

After my ticket was booked, I have been asked to pay a 500€ deposit against an invoice that was emitted from the Representative office of Cosmedica in Germany.

Traveling to Istanbul and hotel transfer: 4.5/5

A couple of weeks later, there it is, I am in Tegel Airport in Berlin Germany, waiting for my flight TK1724 to take off. The plane was ⅔ full probably because of the Corona Virus crisis, people are still afraid to travel. After a ~ 2:30 hours flight and a really underwhelming in-flight dinner, I arrived in Istanbul at 23:00 local time.

A driver was waiting for me at the agreed place. After waiting 20 minutes for another passenger, who in the end did not come or landed later, the driver took me to the hotel in a decent (little old and dirty van). It was evening so there was no traffic. It took roughly 30 mins to the hotel. The driver was friendly but driving very quickly and talking on the phone at the same time. I was not feeling too safe, but I knew that this is how people drive in Istanbul.

Suggestions for improvements:

  • The driver was very quick by my European standards. Driving with one hand. On the phone etc. It’s normal in Turkey but made me feel a bit unsafe.
  • The inside of the car was a little dusty. Which does not give a great feeling at first

Hotel experience 3.5/5

I was located in the Gorrion Hotel next to the previous Istanbul Airport hub: Atatürk Airport. Atatürk Airport is officially closed. Yet from my hotel room, I still saw airplanes taking off. Probably freight only or maintenance as maybe some of the warehouses of Turkish Airlines are still located there. A temperature check is done every time you enter the hotel.

The Gorrion hotel is a 5-star hotel, but it does not really fit the European idea of a 5-star.

  • Room: 3.5/5 – Bit noisy and weak cooling system (takes 5 hours at full power to decrease the temperature from 27 to 25°C.
  • Service: 5/5
  • Clean: 3.5/5
  • Room service: 5/5
  • Wifi: 1/5 totally unsafe network. Everyone uses the same password. Don’t do online banking with this network unless you have a good VPN. Not quick – so hard to stream a movie in the evening for example. Whatsapp & Telegram calls were interrupted

Arrival at the clinic

Transfer at 07:45 with 8 other Cosmedica clients on the bus. No safety belt which felt dangerous for me. Good that it was quick 🙂

The welcoming staff 5/5

I was very impressed by the staff. English, German, French, Russian, Turkish, and Italian was spoken around me. And I am sure those are not the only languages.

Blood test and sample for Plasma Therapy 5/5

A blood sample was done for the plasma therapy but also to check for COVID 19 antibodies. Another guy and I and another guy were positive on anti-bodies. We thought it would be no problem but it ended up taking lots of time because we had to do extra testing for people to check if we were contagious. After doing the test we were cleared for the operation.

Meeting with Dr. Acar 5/5

He was born in 1981, in Germany. He was completed primary and secondary education in Germany. He completed higher education at Istanbul University Istanbul Çapa Medical Faculty and then he was graduate in 2005. And he started work in Istanbul, in 2007. He has followed all innovation for in the later process his professional development and vision.

This moment is crucial! You need to be really well prepared. Make sure to have the following elements with you:

  • Hair situation, since when do you lose hairs
  • What medicaments you take for your hairs
  • Have you ever had a hair transplant? If yes how many and where?
  • What disturbs you the most in your hair situation?
  • What is your wish in general?
  • How do you style your hair?

After taking into account your “briefing” Dr. Acar will have a detailed look at your hair, and inspect the zones to work on, and the donor area. Based on his >10 years of experience, he will draw on your scalp where the donor area should be, where should the hairs be transplanted, how much grafts he thinks the team can do, etc…

The meeting will only be 5-10 minutes max, so make sure to be ready. Dr. Acar is a very busy man.

On a personal note, I felt that Dr. Acar is a very humble and kind person. He really took his time with me and came a few times to check in during the procedure.

Pictures taking and shaving 5/5

After the meeting with Dr. Acar, you go to the picture-taking session. Pictures will be taken from every angle. Those pictures will then be printed by the staff so that the team that executes the transplanting always sees what your hair situation is during the procedure. This is very professional and the precious place where I did the transplantation did not do that.

The transplantation 5/5

The anesthesia 5/5

It starts with the most annoying: the anesthesia. In order to extract the hairs from the donor area, you need local anesthesia. Cosmedica Clinic offers fantastic needless anesthesia what happens is that they use low pain anesthesia at first to make the skin num so that the rest of the anesthesia is less painful.

As mentioned I already did a hair transplant in early 2018 without needle-free hair transplantation. It was horrible, 5 minutes of real pain, cramping at the operation bed. In comparison, because I experienced both, I would really agree with the statement below: The needle-free hair transplantation is a really -70% level of pain. In comparison, it felt like a small acupuncture session. Not pain-free, but still much better.

The extraction of grafts 5/5

After the anesthesia is done, it’s now time for the team to extract the grafts. It’s not painful when the anesthesia is good. You don’t feel anything. Some people even fall asleep

The opening of the channels 5/5

This is the moment when the team is creating the channels in your skin to implement the newly extracted hair grafts. After the channels will be opened, you will probably have time for lunch. I really liked that the team played soft music during the procedure. Much nice and very relaxing.

The lunch 5/5

The lunch is a solid lunch box with different choices. There were even some vegetarian options. I like it. Ate it quickly and went back to continue the procedure.

The transplantation 5/5

After the channels have been opened, it’s time for the transplantation. You will not feel anything. It’s not painful, it’s just long, I counted in my head and I think they do 3 grafts every 10 seconds. So approx 1h for 1000 grafts. And that’s it. If you, like me signed for a package with a higher amount of grafts, you will probably have a 2 days procedure.

If you have a two days procedure, the second day runs approximately the same as the first one 🙂

Equipment 5/5

The equipment looks really new and clean. There are also lots of air cleaning systems. Probably because of COVID 19. The welcoming robot that is visible in the video seems not to be in use any longer.

After the hair transplant

After the transplant, you will already feel great because you will know you did the hardest. Now it’s time to follow the instruction from the package that the team gave you at the beginning of the first. It comes in a nice little bag.

  • Painkillers
  • Antibiotics
  • Anti-oedema
  • Digestive support pills
  • Saline water to spray every two hours

The head washing day at the clinic

One day after the operation, or two days, it depends on how you planned your trip, you will have the removal of the bandages and a free shampoo that you can have at the clinic. You will be given all the pills & shampoos for a 6-months cure.

The follow-up

Now it is just a matter of being disciplined for the next couple of days. Follow the pills calendar, sleep on the back, avoid direct sun, and sport. And in 3-6 months, you will see the results.

I personally liked a lot the certification as well as the guarantee. Keep them preciously.

After 3 months

3 months after the hair transplantation at the Cosmedica clinic in Istanbul, I can already see improvement. Can’t wait to show you guys the 6 months status.

Cosmedica clinic Dr Levent Acar, before after pictures

For those of you guys who wanna see the before, and after pictures, please have a look.

As you guys can see, the result is really impressive. I am very happy about my session with Dr Acar. Compared to prices in Europe and in the US, doing a hair transplant in Turkey seems to be really a good deal. I even consider improving the back side of the head even more.

Conclusion – My personal review of Dr Levent Acar

I really loved my experience with Dr. Acar’s Hair treatment clinic. You can really trust the stellar reviews, that you would find if you would look for Cosmedica Reviews on Google. Fantastic clinic. I did a lot of research and I think that this is the best hair transplant in Istanbul. If you look for Cosmedica turkey bad reviews, you will not find a lot. I was really happy about my experience and I will post my results in 3-6-12 months.

If you are considering hair transportation in Turkey, make sure to be prepared well:

  1. Prepare a summary of your hair situation that you will show to the doctors
  2. Take an extra bag to carry all the additional supplies that you will get after the transplant
  3. It’s gonna hurt a little bit. Be at peace with it. It’s nothing more than acupuncture but it’s not pain-free

Of course, this is only based on my personal experience. I have not been paid by the clinic to do this. If you have any questions, let me know in the comment section and I will try to answer.

After one year, I am very happy about the impact. The situation is much better than before. So I would clearly recommend it.

[Update after 22 Months]: When I look back at “before” after, I am very happy about the result. This is truly incredible. I would recommend it to anyone to get a hair transplant and I am personally very impressed by the quality delivered by the Cosmedica clinic. Highly recommend.

Investing in Turkey

On a side note, my hair transplantation at the Cosmedica Hair transplantation clinic of Dr. Acar made me realize how dynamic is the Turkish economy. I was impressed by the new buildings everywhere, great roads, good climate, and the young population and this made me consider investing in Turkey.

What is a hair transplant and how does it work?

A hair transplant is a surgical procedure that involves taking hair from one area of the head and transplanting it to another area. The most common type of hair transplant is called follicular unit hair transplantation, which involves taking hair from the back and sides of the head and transplanting it to the balding or thinning areas. During the procedure, the hair follicles are carefully removed from the donor site and then transplanted to the recipient site. The hair follicles are then allowed to grow and produce new hair. In most cases, hair transplants are considered to be safe and effective, and they can produce long-lasting results.

What is the cost of a hair transplant in Turkey?

A hair transplant is a surgical procedure that moves hair from a donor area to a bald or hair-thinned area. It’s typically used to treat male pattern baldness. This condition causes hair loss in men who are genetically predisposed to it. Turkey has become one of the most popular destinations for hair transplants in recent years. This is due to the high quality of care and competitive prices. The average cost of a hair transplant in Turkey is $2,500. This is significantly cheaper than the average cost in the United States, which is $9,000. There are a number of factors that contribute to the lower cost of hair transplants in Turkey. These include lower overhead costs, highly skilled surgeons, and a large pool of potential donors. If you’re considering a hair transplant, Turkey is an excellent option to explore.

How to find the best hair transplant clinic in Turkey?

If you’re considering a hair transplant, Turkey is a great option. The country has a wealth of experience in hair transplants, and there are many clinics to choose from. So how do you find the best hair transplant clinic in Turkey? Start by doing some research online. Look for clinics that have a good reputation and positive reviews. Then, schedule consultations with a few different clinics. This will give you the opportunity to meet the staff, tour the facility, and ask questions. Be sure to ask about the clinic’s success rate, what type of hair transplant procedure they use, and how much experience their surgeons have. With a little bit of research, you can be sure to find the best hair transplant clinic in Turkey for your needs.

Are there any risks associated with getting a hair transplant in Turkey?

Hair transplant is a surgical procedure that removes hair follicles from one part of the body to transplant to bald or thinning areas. The main benefit of a hair transplant is that it is permanent and does not require ongoing treatment. However, as with any surgery, there are some risks associated with hair transplants. These risks include bleeding, infection, scarring, and failed hair growth. Additionally, hair transplants can be expensive, and it is important to find a reputable surgeon who has experience with this procedure. Overall, hair transplants are safe and effective, but it is important to understand the risks involved before undergoing surgery.

What is the best hair transplant clinic in Turkey?

There are many hair transplant clinics in Turkey. When I did my research, I encountered many. However, based on my ranking as the best hair transplant clinic in Turkey, the Cosmedica Clinic is by far the place where I had the best experience and also the best results.
